What is an NT-proBNP test?
NT-proBNP (N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide) is released by the heart when it is under strain. Measuring it helps doctors assess breathless patients for heart failure and follow patients with known heart failure.
How long does the Exdia NT-proBNP result take?
15 minutes, on the Exdia TRF Plus analyser in your clinic or emergency room.
What sample is needed?
80 µL of EDTA or heparin whole blood, or plasma.
Is it a quantitative test?
Yes. The analyser gives a measured NT-proBNP value by time-resolved fluorescence, so you can compare results from visit to visit.
Who can perform the test?
Any trained nurse or technician. It is a single-step test: add the sample, insert the cartridge, read the result.
