What is a Troponin I test?
Troponin I (cTnI) is a protein released into the blood when heart muscle is damaged. Measuring it helps doctors assess patients with chest pain and suspected heart attack (myocardial infarction), together with the ECG and clinical findings.
How long does the Exdia Troponin I result take?
15 minutes. The cartridge is read on the Exdia TRF Plus analyser in the clinic or emergency room, so the result is ready while the patient is still with you.
What sample is needed?
80 µL of EDTA or heparin whole blood, or plasma. There is no need to send the sample to an outside lab.
Is it a quantitative test?
Yes. The analyser gives a measured troponin I value by time-resolved fluorescence, not a yes / no line like a strip test.
Who can perform the test?
Any trained nurse or technician. It is a single-step test: add the sample to the cartridge, insert it in the analyser and read the result.
